WASHINGTON, D.C. - An order setting rates for renewable energy developers from Consumers Energy will create the certainty necessary to spur private investments and new growth in solar energy, while ensuring utility customers’ electricity rates don’t increase.
SEIA Joins Settlement to Resolve Oncor Rate Case
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Following is a statement from Sean Gallagher, vice president of state affairs for the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), on the unanimous settlement approved today to resolve Oncor Electric Delivery Company’s 2017 rate case: “SEIA supports the Texas Commission’s approval today of the settlement in Oncor's rate case. We’re pleased that Oncor agreed to withdraw its original proposal to institute a solar rate specially designed to impose a minimum bill on residential customers who have or will install solar.

Analysis: Current Net Metering Cap Stalls $78 Million of Solar Projects in Massachusetts
BOSTON, MASS. and WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 2, 2017) – More than $78 million in solar projects are on hold in Massachusetts, according to new analysis from the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). SEIA and Massachusetts partner organizations are convening at the State Capitol on Oct. 3 and testifying in support of two bills that would raise the net metering caps. The waiting list totals 124 projects, which have a capacity of 51.2 megawatts (MW) and could power nearly 5,400 homes.

California's Failure to Pass Clean Energy Legislation Is Disappointing, but Hopes Are Still High for Next Year
As California’s legislative session came to a close, three bills which would have accelerated the state’s renewable energy development and created the necessary prerequisites for an integrated grid in the West stalled. Opponents to the bills had offered “poison pill” amendments that would have undermined savings for electricity customers and limited the growth of solar and other distributed energy resources.
SEIA Comments on Today's Nevada PUC Ruling on AB 405
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Following is a statement from Sean Gallagher, vice president of state affairs of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA): “Nevadans have said loud and clear they want the choice to install solar on their own homes and see solar jobs grow again in Nevada. That was the intent of AB 405, and we are pleased the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada recognized that in its ruling today. Solar businesses in the state now have the certainty they need to get back to work, which means the jobs and economic benefits will follow in short order." ###
