WASHINGTON, D.C. – Winning in the category of “website activism,” the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) received a prestigious 2015 Gold Communicator Award from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA) as part of its 21st annual worldwide awards competition. The award goes to sites that “encourage or promote change and public involvement.”
With more than 6,000 entries received from across the U.S. and around the world, the Communicator Awards is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals, including ad agencies, interactive agencies, production ï¬rms, in-house creative professionals, graphic designers, design ï¬rms and public relations ï¬rms. SEIA won the award for its America Supports Solar website and ongoing efforts to promote the importance of expanding the use of solar energy nationwide – a campaign developed, implemented and managed by the SEIA’s communications department.
The Communicator Awards are judged and overseen by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, a 600-plus member organization of leading professionals from various disciplines of the visual arts dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media. Current AIVA membership represents a “Who’s Who” of acclaimed media, advertising and marketing firms, including AirType Studio, Condé Nast, Disney, Estee Lauder, Lockheed Martin, Victoria’s Secret, Monster.com, MTV, Pitney Bowes, rabble+rouser, Time Inc., Wired, Yahoo!, and many others.Â
“This is a tremendous honor and reflects the true creativity, innovation and spirit of the entire U.S. solar industry,” said SEIA President and CEO Rhone Resch. “Today, 9 out of 10 Americans favor more solar deployment nationwide, and our America Supports Solar website captures that sentiment in a visually exciting and educational way. In receiving this honor, I want to give a special “˜shout-out’ to SEIA’s in-house communications team, which has now won six major national awards in the past year alone. “
“The work entered in the 21st Annual Communicator Awards serves as a true testament to the innovative ideas and capabilities of communications and marketing professionals around the world. Each year, our entrants continue to amaze by reinventing the ways we communicate and market in an ever-changing industry,” noted Linda Day, executive director of AIVA. She added, “On behalf of the entire Academy, we congratulate this year’s Communicator Award Entrants and Winners for their passion and dedication. We are humbled to be given the opportunity to recognize such amazing work.”
