SEIA Welcomes Leading Distributed Generation Developer to Board of Directors

Board Addition Comes as Several States Advance Policies to Deploy More Distributed Solar

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) announced the addition of ECA Solar, a leading distributed generation developer, to its board of directors. The board addition comes as several states, including Virginia, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Maryland, among others, have advanced legislation to deploy more distributed solar to keep energy prices down for Americans.

Founded in 2014 and based in Waltham, Massachusetts, ECA Solar has a strong portfolio of community and commercial solar projects across the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic. ECA Solar manages the full project lifecycle, working at each stage to ensure communities and landowners benefit from solar installations for years following completion.

“ECA Solar is a major player in the distributed generation market and a driving force behind key energy infrastructure projects delivering low-cost, reliable power to Americans,” said Darren Van’t Hof, interim president and CEO of SEIA. “Their commitment to being a trusted partner for communities and landowners who choose to go solar through complex development and permitting processes truly stands out. SEIA welcomes their leadership on our board at a critical time for the industry as we work to communicate to policymakers and the American people that solar + storage are central to lowering energy costs and ensuring reliable power.”

With over 200 projects currently in development and 1.3 GW in the pipeline, ECA’s focus on bringing more distributed generation and energy storage projects to the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic will help meet rising energy demand while keeping Americans’ electric bills down.

“We are proud to join forces with the premier association for solar and storage in America,” said CEO and Founder Todd Fryatt, ECA SOLAR. “Last year, cumulative installed solar capacity in the United States reached 279,000 Megawatts, and SEIA is a driving force behind all these energy infrastructure projects. The nation’s energy independence and dominance is now directly tied to the United States having thriving storage and solar industries. ECA SOLAR’s focus on distributed generation and storage is directly improving both affordability and energy choice for all citizens.”

ECA Solar’s addition to SEIA’s member leadership comes as the U.S. solar industry marked its fifth consecutive year as the top source of new power in the U.S., with solar and storage representing 79% of the new power added to the grid. The U.S. solar industry also supplied a record 8.5% of U.S. electricity in 2025.

SEIA’s board of directors consists of more than 50 companies from across the solar + storage value chain.
