SEIA Named One of The Washington Post’s 2023 Top Workplaces in Washington, DC

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) is announcing that it has been named one of The Washington Post’s 2023 Top Workplaces in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Selection for this award is based solely on employee feedback gathered through an anonymous third-party survey by Energage that measured several aspects of SEIA’s workplace culture, including mission alignment, organizational leadership, the degree to which an employee feels connected to an organization, and much more.

“It is an honor to be named a 2023 Top Workplace by the Washington Post,” said SEIA president and CEO Abigail Ross Hopper. “This award is a testament to the passionate, forward-thinking leaders that choose to work at SEIA and the inclusive, energetic company culture they foster. We are proud of our people-first culture and strive to create an environment that uplifts employee voices and celebrates our collective success.”

SEIA received high marks across the board on the staff survey, especially in areas that contribute to a positive company culture, showcasing the trade association’s leadership and operational excellence.

SEIA employees rated the organization very highly on its values, execution, and management. According to the staff survey, more than 95% of SEIA employees stated that SEIA empowers its employees to work at their full potential which is on average 14% higher than other nonprofit trade associations that participated. In addition, more than 95% of employees said that their manager helps them learn and grow and that they feel well informed about important decisions at SEIA, both of which are top culture drivers.

SEIA has received several awards for its work and positive company culture, and last year was ranked as the 9th best nonprofit to work for in the United States by the Nonprofit Times.

“For the past ten years, the Top Workplaces list has been a credible guide to companies, old and new, in the D.C. region where employees feel valued,” said Washington Post Top Workplaces editor Bronwen Latimer. “As a new generation enters the workforce, the Post is more committed than ever to highlighting the changing landscape of work and how these companies are thriving in it.”

This year’s honorees include government contractors, real estate firms, consulting firms, and tech companies. The Washington Post hosted an awards ceremony on June 15, 2023 to recognize the top-ranked companies.

“Every day, SEIA employees go to work knowing that their contributions make a difference,” said Hopper. “We are going to need the brightest minds to continue our fight against the climate crisis, and we invite you to join our amazing team.”
