Prioritizing DEIJ in Education
SEIA values diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice within our organization and the promotion of these values across the solar industry. These values are extended into the creation of our education across events and other programming. We have made a commitment to ensure that all educational programs provided by SEIA must represent the diversity that the industry values and aspires to recognize. Sessions, webinars, and other courses that do not meet the standards of inclusion will not be confirmed until we have enough participants that rightfully represent the renewable energy industry.
These values are also reflected in all RE+ education.

Community Colleges Connect
Community Colleges Connect links SEIA member companies with community colleges to build a skilled solar and storage workforce. Companies can connect with career centers, job fairs, and local schools, while community colleges gain direct access to job openings and industry resources. This is an evolving resource, check back regularly for updates.

Partnership with RE+
Together, SEIA and SEPA (Smart Electric Power Alliance) produce RE+. Unlike other industry events, all proceeds from RE+ events support the expansion of the energy industry through SEIA and SEPA’s year-round research and education activities, and extensive advocacy and advisory efforts. RE+ events encompass a wide-ranging portfolio, including events within the U.S. focusing on trends and policies in specific states and regions, and international events that bring together clean energy leaders in up-and-coming markets across the world. These events explore trends and developments in a variety of clean energy sectors such as solar, storage, hydrogen, EVs, microgrids, and more.

The SEIA Finance, Tax & Buyers Seminar is a prestigious event that connects more than hundreds of tax, finance, business, and legal leaders, combining content from SEIA’s long-standing Solar Goes Corporate and Finance & Tax Seminar events.
The SEIA Sustainability Conference brings together all stakeholders in the solar and storage industry to engage on issues surrounding sustainability, recycling, circularity, and more. This new, premier SEIA event brings together industry, legislators, researchers, and academics to discuss what will make circular economy work for solar and storage and why it is so important to do so.

Education Committee
The Education Committee meets to discuss various leadership opportunities and timelines for involvement in SEIA and RE+ events. Committee members can expect to stay up to date on possible speaking, sponsorship, and volunteer opportunities. During these monthly meetings, committee members hear what education programming is under development and how to get involved. This committee is open to Kilowatt, Kilowatt Plus, Megawatt, Gigawatt, and Terawatt members.

SEIA recognizes the importance of our position in the industry as a resource for education, and as we expect greater workforce expansion in the Solar+ Decade, it is even more necessary that we continue to lead in this space. With this expected growth, there is an increased need for introductory content catered to new solar professionals. SEIA has developed a comprehensive platform for solar 101 content where both SEIA members and non-members can learn the basics of solar at their own pace.
SEIA’s Solar 101 Program is an all-inclusive platform for solar energy professionals to access expert knowledge on specific industry topics and trends. Our Solar 101 Program offers valuable expert insight into many areas including topics such as solar technology, market segmentation, transmission, project development, permitting, and more. With centralized access to these types of materials, our online 101 content allows professionals to develop a solid foundation of knowledge necessary for success in the industry. The program includes a diverse set of courses that will provide value to both new entrants to the industry and established professionals who are looking for a refresher on certain solar subjects.
SEIA’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) Certification program is a first-of-its-kind platform that encourages energy companies to implement evidence-based DEIJ best practices within their companies. The program provides resources and guidance as businesses evaluate their current DEIJ progress, and similar to other programs like LEED, users will achieve levels of certification based on the activities they complete.
Pathways to Trust addresses a critical gap in professional development, providing essential knowledge often absent from traditional education and training programs. By building competency in tribal partnerships, the program supports more effective collaboration, reduces project risks, creates better outcomes for all parties, and contributes to the broader goal of equitable relationships between tribal nations and external partners.
