WASHINGTON, DC and ALBANY, NY – Saying it will help consumers and support continued investment in residential and commercial solar, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and the New York Solar Energy Industries Association (NYSEIA) today commended the New York State legislature for passing a property tax exemption extension. The bill, which will now be sent to Gov. Cuomo for signature, extends the property tax exemption for distributed generation systems on homes and businesses until 2025.
“SEIA applauds the New York legislature’s extension of the property tax for solar systems. Solar is a a growing industry, employing thousands and providing access to local clean energy resources for New York’s citizens,” said Carrie Cullen Hitt, senior vice president of state affairs for SEIA.Â
“The leadership Senator Maziarz and Assemblywoman Paulin have shown is helping to bolster the solar energy industry in the state. Their tireless efforts are appreciated not only by NYSEIA, but also by New Yorkers across the state. We thank Governor Cuomo for prioritizing solar with the NY-SUN initiative and encourage him to sign this bill into law,” said David Sandbank, Vice President, NYSEIA.Â
