Georgia Power and Solar Design & Development Form Alliance on Utility-Scale Solar Projects

Scottsdale District's Solar Savings Hit $300,000 Yearly

Scottsdale was among the first school districts in the state to put solar panels on campus roofs, in 2009 at Coronado High School and the Desert Mountain High School/Mountainside Middle School campus.Since then, panels have been installed at Chaparral, Arcadia and Saguaro high schools, and Copper Ridge School. This summer, panels are being added to Desert Canyon Middle School. Salt River Project recently donated a small rooftop array to Tavan Elementary School, and that 13.2-kilowatt project just went online last month.

Westinghouse Solar, Zep Settle Patent Dispute Over Panels

Bloomberg BusinessweekWestinghouse Solar Inc. (WEST) and Zep Solar Inc. said they have settled a patent dispute over designs to reduce the cost of attaching solar panels to roofs.  Financial terms weren't disclosed. The settlement, which covers civil suits and a case pending before the U.S. International Trade Commission in Washington, extends to all customers, suppliers and licensees of the companies, they said in a joint statement.

DuPont Says SolarWorld Infringes Patent for Photovoltaic Cells

Bloomberg BusinessweekDuPont Co. (DD) filed a patent-infringmenet lawsuit today accusing SolarWorld AG (SWV) of selling photovoltaic cells using a material the chemical company said it invented.  The suit, filed in federal court in Portland, Oregon, is over a conductive paste that coats the front side of a solar cell.  The paste is made by a unit of Heraeus Holding GmbH and supplied to SolarWorld's U.S. unit, according to the complaint.
