U.S. Solar Market Adds 10.6 GW of PV in 2017, Community Solar Soars

BOSTON, Mass. and WASHINGTON D.C.  – In 2017, the U.S. solar market expanded, adding double-digit gigawatt solar photovoltaic (PV) additions for the second year in a row. According to the newly released U.S. Solar Market Insight Report 2017 Year-in-Review from GTM Research and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the solar industry installed 10.6 gigawatts (GW) of new PV capacity in 2017, led by strong growth in the corporate and community solar segments.

Solar Advocates Welcome Bills to Advance New Jersey’s Clean Energy Economy

TRENTON, New Jersey - State and national solar energy advocates today expressed strong support for both A3723 and S2314 to stabilize and expand New Jersey’s renewable economy. Assemblyman John McKeon’s bill and its companion in the Senate, S2314 from Senator Bob Smith, consider the renewable energy provisions that were previously included in S877, an earlier comprehensive energy package that was split to consider nuclear and clean energy components independent of each other.

New York Makes Billion Dollar Commitment to Solar Energy

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced an unprecedented commitment to renewable energy. The Solar Industry Welcomes Legislation Encouraging More Solar Energy Development in Virginia

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and the Maryland-DC-Virginia Solar Energy Industries Association (MDV-SEIA) welcomed news that Virginia Governor Ralph Northam has signed into law the 2018 omnibus energy bill. The measure, Senate Bill 966, encourages the growth of renewable energy in the Commonwealth by designating 5.5 gigawatts of solar and wind energy to be in the public interest and initiating a process to modernize the state’s power grid to make adoption of renewables easier.

SEIA Welcomes Heightened Role of Borrego Solar and Sol Systems in SEIA Leadership

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the national trade association for the U.S. solar energy industry, announced today that Borrego Solar Systems, one of the largest commercial solar and energy storage developers and installers in the United States, and Sol Systems, a preeminent U.S. solar finance and development firm, have both expanded their role in SEIA leadership by moving to the Board of Directors level.

SEIA Seeks Reversal of Ill-Advised Approach to Tariffs

SEIA Urges New Jersey Legislature to Pass Bill Raising State’s Solar Energy Goal

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) urged the New Jersey Legislature to pass Senate Bill 877 to keep the state’s solar industry growing and maintain the more than 7,100 solar jobs in one of the largest solar markets in the U.S.   The bill is being examined today in a joint hearing held by the state Senate Budget and Appropriations and the Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities committees.

New Bill Aims to Give Calif. Businesses, Schools and Nonprofits More Access to Solar Energy

SACRAMENTO, Calif. and WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 20, 2018) – The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) commended legislation filed in the California Legislature on Friday that would make it easier for businesses, schools, nonprofits and municipalities to access solar energy. In turn, this will help generate thousands of new jobs and millions of dollars of investment in the state.
