WASHINGTON, D.C. – In recognition of its highly successful America Supports Solar campaign, which was launched earlier this year as part of National Shout Out for Solar Day, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) has won two prestigious Gold Communicator Awards from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA) as part of its 20th annual worldwide awards competition.

Along with its outside consulting team, Insomniac Design, Inc., SEIA won in the categories of “Energy Websites” and “Visual Appeal for Websites.”

With more than 6,000 entries received from across the U.S. and around the world, the Communicator Awards is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals, including ad agencies, interactive agencies, production ï¬rms, in-house creative professionals, graphic designers, design ï¬rms and public relations ï¬rms.

The Communicator Awards are judged and overseen by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, a 600-plus member organization of leading professionals from various disciplines of the visual arts dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media.  Current IAVA membership represents a “Who’s Who” of acclaimed media, advertising and marketing firms, including  AirType Studio, Condé Nast, Disney, Keller Crescent, Lockheed Martin, Monster.com, MTV, rabble+rouser, Time Inc., Tribal DDB, Yahoo!, and many others.

“This is a tremendous honor and reflects the true creativity, innovation and “˜can-do’ spirit of the entire U.S. solar industry,” said SEIA President and CEO Rhone Resch.  “I want to thank Insomniac Design for being a terrific partner, and also offer my own special “˜shout out’ to SEIA’s in-house communications team and our PR committee for breathing life into this special project. Today, 9 out of 10 Americans favor more solar deployment nationwide, and our America Supports Solar website captures that sentiment in a visually exciting way.”

“The team at Insomniac Design had a great time partnering with SEIA in designing, developing and launching this digital campaign,” added Ashwin Jayaram, Insomniac’s chief design officer.  “It was an honor to have had the opportunity to be involved in this important social media initiative for National Shout Out for Solar Day.”

“We are both excited and amazed by the quality of work received for the 20th Annual Communicator Awards.  This year’s class of entries is a true reflection of the progressive and innovative nature of marketing and communications,” said Linda Day, executive director of the Academy Interactive and Visual Arts. “On behalf of the entire Academy I want to applaud this year’s Communicator Awards entrants and winners for their dedication to perfecting their craft as they continue to push the envelope of creativity.”
