SEIA’s regulatory affairs team has decades of collective experience working in and with agencies that directly affect the solar industry (including the Department of the Interior, the Department of the Treasury, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission), representing other energy trade associations on high-stakes policy matters, and defending industry positions in federal courts across the country. We also work closely with SEIA’s world-class congressional affairs, communications, and technical teams to project and amplify the solar industry’s story across disciplines and audiences. Our passion for effective advocacy and member service brings the credibility and values necessary to ensure solar’s bright future.
Access to high-voltage transmission lines is key for the development of utility-scale solar power projects, as transmission lines are what move the power from where the electricity is generated to where it is consumed. SEIA promotes the expansion of the transmission grid through federal and state initiatives.
Across the country state and federal leaders are doubling down on their clean energy goals, but distribution utilities and regional transmission organizations (RTOs) are struggling to keep up with overflowing interconnection queues.
As the industry grows and states explore significant increases in solar penetration, the land necessary for solar projects will become more and more valuable. With thoughtful preparation, solar development can be a net positive for the environment and a boon for local communities.
Solar and storage technologies play a critical role in ensuring U.S. energy independence and national security.
Utility-scale solar has been generating reliable, clean electricity with a stable fuel price for decades. Developing utility-scale solar power is one of the fastest ways to reduce carbon emissions and put the U.S. on a path to a clean energy future.
