The goal of this discussion is to increase engagement among solar companies in diversity, equity, inclusion and justice initiatives and to offer thoughts from leaders in our industry about how clean energy policy and racial justice are inextricable.
Reactive Power Compensation: How to Unlock New Revenue Opportunities for Solar and Storage Projects
Solar and storage companies have developed a growing interest in receiving compensation for reactive power in projects across the United States. While reactive power compensation has been available to numerous types of resources for decades, recent improvements in solar and storage technological capabilities, and a 2017 order from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, have combined to turn reactive power into an attractive and achievable revenue opportunity for solar and storage resources- particularly in MISO and PJM.
Part 5 - SEIA Summer Webinar Series: Solar Leading the Recovery
Net-metering compensation has been decided as a retail rate matter at the state-by-state level for decades, but a petition recently filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), asked FERC to declare that net metering is subject to FERC’s "exclusive federal jurisdiction over wholesale energy sales.” Join SEIA for a timely webinar examining why this petition raised alarm bells among both solar advocates and state policymakers, and what the recent FERC ruling means for access to distributed energy resources like solar energy in retail markets.
