Solar and Storage Industry Statement on Chuckwalla National Monument

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  Today President Biden issued a proclamation establishing the Chuckwalla National Monument in Southern California.

Following is a statement from Sean Gallagher, senior vice president of policy for the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), on the announcement:

“SEIA, our members, utilities, Native American Tribes, and members of the conservation community worked together for many months on the Chuckwalla National Monument — and the final monument is better because of it. The final proclamation and monument boundary protects the region’s cultural values and environment while providing for essential renewable energy and future transmission development. We hope Chuckwalla serves as a model of collaboration in monument planning moving forward.”
