SEIA Honored as Part of Worldwide Webby Awards Competition

WASHINGTON, DC – In recognition of its “remarkable achievement” in the area of website design and development, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) is being honored by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Science as part of its prestigious 18th Annual Webby Awards competition.

The first Webby Awards were presented in 1995.  Since then, the competition has grown in stature to become known as the “Oscars of the Internet.” This year, there were 12,000 entries from all 50 states and 60 countries. As voted on by a panel of judges, only seven organizations were named honorees in the “Associations” category. SEIA joins a select list of honorees, which also includes the Television Academy and the National Cable and Telecommunications Association.  SEIA was the only energy trade association in America selected.

“This tremendous honor recognizes SEIA’s ongoing commitment to online excellence, which has benefitted our member companies as well as the American public,” said SEIA President and CEO Rhone Resch.  “Two years ago, we began an aggressive overhaul of SEIA’s website, giving it greater flexibility and vastly improving the user experience. By utilizing creative and cutting-edge design techniques, anyone can navigate our site seamlessly, whether you’re using a desktop computer, smart phone, tablet or other mobile device. We are very proud to be honored by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences and look forward to achieving even greater innovations in the future.”

In addition to its www.seia.org website, this year SEIA also launched a popular companion site, www.americasupportssolar.org, which details how solar has become the fastest-growing source of renewable energy in America.
