WASHINGTON D.C. — Today, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) congratulated Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker on his re-election.

Following is a statement from Abigail Ross Hopper, president and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association:

“The solar industry congratulates Governor Charlie Baker on his reelection. From fighting solar import tariffs to signing various pieces of legislation to encourage renewable energy growth, Governor Baker understands that solar power is a winner for the economy and the environment. Most recently, the Baker administration spearheaded the new SMART program to encourage continued renewable growth, which will bring another 1,600 megawatts of solar to the state. With the program now weeks away from opening, we are looking forward to a solar boom in Massachusetts in the months to come.”

Massachusetts has 2,226 megawatts of solar installed, the 7th most in the nation. See more statistics on Massachusetts’ solar market.
