WASHINGTON, D.C. –Â Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) President and CEO Rhone Resch congratulates President Obama on his selection of Vice Admiral Dennis V. McGinn (USN, ret.) to serve as the Navy’s new assistant secretary for energy, installations and the environment:
Â
“Admiral McGinn is the perfect man for the job. Having worked with him in the past, I have the utmost respect for his abilities. As a retired Vice Admiral in the United States Navy and CEO of ACORE, he understands the security benefits of clean domestic renewable energy along with its obvious economic and environmental advantages. During his 35-year career in the military, Admiral McGinn did it all, serving as a naval aviator, test pilot, aircraft carrier commanding officer, and national security strategist. SEIA applauds President Obama for making such an outstanding selection.
Â
“In recent years, the Navy, Army and Air Force have each implemented aggressive plans that have put the U.S. military on a path to significantly expand its use of clean, renewable solar. Each branch has outlined ambitious renewable energy targets that will drive 3 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy installations by 2025. This marks a seismic shift in Pentagon thinking when it comes to meeting future energy needs.”
