STATEMENT: Pennsylvania Passes Solar Decommissioning Legislation to Ensure Sustainable Energy Development

WASHINGTON, D.C. and HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro signed the bipartisan Senate Bill 349, which sets a statewide framework for decommissioning ground-mounted solar projects at the end of a project’s useful life. The law ensures that solar developers, not landowners, are responsible for managing the decommissioning process.

Tim Pawlenty, president and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association, issued the following statement in response to this development:
