A goal of mine in writing for Forbes.com on energy issues is to point out intriguing business models, trends, and new concepts that may change the way we think about energy-related issues. Lately, I’ve been focused on dramatic changes in solar models and economics. Things have really changed in a very short timeframe, as the following story illustrates.
A few weeks ago, I wrote a piece on EnergySage and their online platform that simplifies the process of residential solar purchases. This week, I was put in touch with one of EnergySage’s customers – Diane Hammond of Sudbury, Massachusetts – because of her unique approach to the solar issue. She likes the environmental aspect of solar, but what really thrills her is that it’s a great retirement vehicle, and she’s making a solid return on her investment.
