WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) provided initial details on a new program in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) called the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.
Following is a statement from Abigail Ross Hopper, president and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) in reaction to the new guidance:
“We are glad to see the EPA move forward with guidance to get the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund off the ground. This program will fund the organizations best positioned to help low-income and disadvantaged communities get access to solar energy through grants and other financial assistance, including specifically for distributed solar and storage technologies.
“The details revealed today will go a long way to quickly and equitably decarbonizing our grid, unlocking critical new investments in communities that we should be empowering to benefit from the historic Inflation Reduction Act. We look forward to continuing our work with the Biden administration to advance environmental justice and equity in the clean energy economy."
