WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the national trade association for the U.S. solar energy industry, announced today the addition of Nexamp to its board of directors.
Founded by two U.S. military veterans in 2007, Nexamp is committed to making energy clean, simple and accessible through programs that leverage the latest solar and energy storage technology for community-scale implementation. The company, a pioneer in community solar, advocates for equitable solar policy at the state and national level.
“For solar to reach 20% of U.S. electricity, we’re going to need community solar and storage solutions that help more Americans get access to clean and affordable electricity,” said Abigail Ross Hopper, SEIA’s president and CEO. “I’m thrilled to announce that Nexamp will be joining our board of directors. As a leading solar and storage provider, Nexamp will contribute their expertise to SEIA’s state policy campaigns and federal initiatives, helping the solar industry achieve its goals in the Solar+ Decade.”
With hundreds of solar projects spanning seven states along the east coast and in the Midwest, Nexamp has more than a decade of experience supporting customers with services including property development, project construction or acquisition, asset management, community solar and energy storage.
“SEIA is a powerful voice in the industry and will play a significant role in shaping the way solar and storage are implemented as part of our clean energy future,” said Zaid Ashai, Nexamp CEO. “I look forward to working with the board on key federal and state policy issues as well as important topics such as energy storage, industry diversity and increased public awareness of how solar programs can address climate change.”
Earlier this year, SEIA announced an aggressive goal to have solar energy comprise 20% of all U.S. electricity generation by 2030, naming the 2020s the Solar+ Decade. To reach the Solar+ Decade targets, SEIA has developed a roadmap that outlines policy priorities, collaborations, and growth considerations that need to be in place for the industry to thoughtfully add thousands of new careers and hundreds of gigawatts of solar.
In addition to collaborating with Nexamp and companies across the industry, SEIA is working to advance tax and trade policies, protect and create strong state solar markets and ensure competition.
