Commission Should Support Solar-Energy Growth

Arizona Republic

Arizona has the best solar resource in the country. Outside of California, no other state boasts as much installed solar capacity, and Arizona has added thousands of solar jobs in recent years, making solar energy a true homegrown success story.

This year, the newly elected commissioners on the Arizona Corporation Commission will decide the future course of Arizona’s energy infrastructure when they weigh in on Arizona Public Service’s resource plans and the state’s renewable-energy standard. As they take up those tasks, I’d urge them to think less like politicians and more like investors. When you get beyond short-term thinking and look at long-term value, it’s clear that supporting renewable energy is the right move for the state.
