"Trash to Treasure": America's Largest Solar-Covered Landfill

“Demand for energy in the United States is only increasing, and the more power that we can get to the grid, the more we can help reduce that energy bill each month.“

The Mount Olive Solar Project in New Jersey is the largest solar-covered landfill in the United States. This project, which has been operational since 2023, converted a former EPA Superfund site into a 25.6 megawatt solar energy plant. Thanks to the solar installation, the previously unmaintained land is now cared for by project developer CEP Renewables, cleaning up a financial and environmental burden all while producing clean, fuel-free electricity for the community.
