Center For American Progress Hart Research Poll, January 2015

In January 2015, Hart Research conducted a poll on behalf of the Center For American Progress. Respondents were asked how much the United States should rely on solar in the next five years. 80% responded positively, the highest of any option provided.

As part of their annual nationwide Environment Poll, Gallup asked respondents whether the United States should put more emphasis as it does now on producing domestic energy from solar power, wind, natural gas, oil, nuclear power, and coal.

By the end of 2014, the United States had 20,500 megawatts (MW) of cumulative solar electric capacity, enough to power four million average U.S. homes. This success is the outcome of federal, state and local programs that are working in concert to make solar power accessible to more Americans.
