This testimony is submitted on behalf of David Gahl, the Senior Director of State Affairs for the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). SEIA is the national trade association of the U.S. solar energy industry, which now employs more than 260,000 Americans. Through advocacy and education, SEIA is building a strong solar industry to power America.

Each year, The Solar Foundation releases its National Solar Jobs Census, a report that tracks employment in the U.S. solar industry. It is the most comprehensive analysis of the solar labor market in the United States, and is a critical resource in educating policymakers and the general public about the economic impact of solar energy.

This webinar will address financing options and tools that are paving the way for more solar on churches, community centers, schools, other non-profits, and municipalities.

SEIA’s in-house trade expert John Smirnow will present a one-hour webinar focused on pending antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings, Section 201 and 301 tariffs, U.S. Customs enforcement, and potential trade-related implications of U.S. cybersecurity initiatives.

The SEIA team prepared this Annual Report as a means of communicating the association’s successes in 2018 and our priorities and deliverables in 2019. We believe the efforts outlined in this report will help us compete against the intensifying efforts of much better-funded opponents who are trying to put a halt to solar growth.
