As the national trade association for solar companies in the U.S., we have a unique position, and therefore a unique responsibility, to lead the industry forward and create a more just and equitable energy future.
SEIA has raised $103,000 of our initial $300,000 goal. Funds raised directly support the creation of brand-new products and services that will make the solar industry more diverse, equitable and inclusive, while ensuring that the growth of solar nationwide supports frontline communities and addresses environmental justice.

SEIA’s DEIJ work is so expansive, we have created various working groups to help member companies best apply their time, energy, interest and expertise. Opening the Working Groups to all members ensures that we are remaining true to principles of transparency, community engagement, and inclusion.

SEIA's Diverse Suppliers Database
Ensuring diversity, equity and inclusion within all sectors of the solar industry is a crucial part of managing our growth. Supplier diversity is a key element of this, as expanding the supply chain to include businesses owned and operated by a diverse individuals can be an important pillar of your company’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice efforts. SEIA has developed a comprehensive database of diverse suppliers within the solar industry, along with other key resources.

Solar Industry Policy Principles on Environmental Justice & Equity
Public policy and government action, whether at the local, state, or federal level, will be critical to tackling the climate crisis and building a clean energy future in America. As an industry that deploys clean, reliable, affordable electricity, SEIA recognizes the critical role for environmental justice in these policy discussions, and the need for climate solutions to take into account the disproportionate impacts felt by frontline communities. To this end, we have developed principles for advocacy and a policy platform that SEIA and our members will follow as we work with elected officials and other stakeholders to create the equitable energy future we so badly need.

DEIJ - Certification Description
SEIA’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) Certification program is a first-of-its-kind platform that encourages energy companies to implement evidence-based DEIJ best practices within their companies. The program provides resources and guidance as businesses evaluate their current DEIJ progress, and similar to other programs like LEED, users will achieve levels of certification based on the activities they complete.

Working alongside our member companies, SEIA is working to diversify the leadership in our organization and the industry at large, cultivating a diverse array of young professionals through board-level engagement, internships and other mentorship opportunities.
