The National Zoo Debuts One Of The First Solar-Powered Carousels

This Monday, the National Zoo in Washington, D.C., opened one of the world’s first solar-powered carousels to visitors.

The Conservation Carousel, besides having very ornate, hand-carved animals, has a net-zero impact on the Zoo’s energy consumption. It runs entirely off of its 162 solar panels. It even diverts excess power back to the zoo.
