Broad, Bipartisan Opposition to Solar Tariffs as ITC Hears Trade Case

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Led by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the solar industry, elected officials and U.S. trading partners argued today against Suniva’s bid for trade relief at a packed International Trade Commission (ITC) hearing. Hundreds of American solar workers concerned about their jobs attended the hearing.

Solar Industry Expects Loss of 88,000 Jobs in U.S. Next Year if Government Rules in Company’s Favor in Trade Case

The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the national trade association for the solar industry, said today that an estimated 88,000 jobs, about one-third of the current American solar workforce, would be lost if Suniva gets trade protections proposed in its petition with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC).

SEIA Forms New Committee Dedicated to PV Mounting System Manufacturers

The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) today announced the formation of the PV Mounting System Manufacturers Committee (MSMC). This committee will work with other SEIA members to ensure the industry is working together to advance solar products, services and policies. Report finds Chinese Success in Solar Manufacturing Replicable in U.S.

A new report from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) finds that Chinese success in solar manufacturing is driven primarily by scale and supply-chain development, instead of low labor costs and/or direct subsidies. U.S. Solar Energy Jobs Increase by More Than 13 Percent

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Solar Energy Industries Association® (SEIA®) today highlighted initial findings from The Solar Foundation’s (TSF) third annual National Solar Jobs Census showing that solar energy jobs have experienced strong growth in the U.S. over the past year, despite global economic challenges. The full National Solar Jobs Census 2012, with analysis of employment trends across the entire solar industry is scheduled for release on Nov. 14, 2012 by TSF, a nonprofit research institution located in Washington, D.C.
