Nakhia Crossley is Central Region Director and Counsel at SEIA where she oversees SEIA’s regulatory and legislative matters in the growing solar market in the region.
Prior to SEIA, Nakhia worked at the Illinois Commerce Commission, where she served in various roles within the agency and was instrumental to the agency’s implementations efforts following the Future Energy Jobs Act, including, but not limited to, the Illinois Power Agency’s Long Term Renewables Resources Procurement Plan, administrative rules governing utility-scale solar and wind installers, and workforce and supplier diversity. Nakhia holds a B.S. in Journalism/Mass Communications from North Carolina A&T State University and a J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. She is also a 2020 fellow of The Chicago Urban League IMPACT Executive Leadership Development Program, in partnership with the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Throughout her career, Nakhia has been passionate about the advancement and empowerment of minorities, women and youth in both legal and S.T.E.M. careers. She currently serves on the board of directors of the Black Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater Chicago, Inc., as a founding associate board member of Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana, and as an active member, mentor and volunteer of the Women’s Energy Network.
