Joe Mendelson, director of policy and electricity markets and regulatory counsel for SolarCity, is the new chair of the SEIA Trade Committee. Â Joe is taking over for Bill Morin, who led the Committee for several years, including through the U.S.-China trade dispute.

Joe leads SolarCity’s policy work related to its Buffalo Riverbend solar panel manufacturing facility, federal trade policy and environmental climate change policy. Â Prior to joining SolarCity, Joe was the democratic chief climate counsel for the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. Â He also served as director of policy for the National Wildlife Federation’s Climate & Energy Program and co-founded and served as the legal director of the Center for Food Safety and International Center for Technology Assessment.

Joe holds a Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University and a J.D. from the George Washington University School of Law. Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, he and his family reside in Arlington, Virginia.
