SEIA submitted comments on May 4th in response to the Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) draft Environmental Assessment regarding the Local Power Company (LPC) Power Supply Flexibility Proposal. This draft proposal would allow LPCs to procure and own up to 3-5% of generation and solidify a relationship with the TVA as their long-term wholesale energy supplier. SEIA’s comments requested more information on the methodology behind TVA’s calculation of the proposed flexibility threshold, as well as the ability to aggregate capacity amongst LPCs, the ability to reallocate unused capacity and a request for further justification of the 5% flexibility cap.
